Did you know that Canada is the most popular place for Brazilians looking for an experience abroad? According to the last census shows in Statistics Canada in 2016, 29,315 Brazilians are in Canada with a residence visa, and in the same year almost 100,000 temporary visas were requested, most of them seeking to study English or French there.
Among the reasons given, safety, quality of life, educational level and possibility to study two languages dominate the top of the list. Even we haven’t mentioned a reason that weighs heavily: the cost / benefit, since the Canadian dollar is cheaper than the US dollar.
Canada is the 10th safest countries in the world, according to research by the American NGO Social Progress Imperative *. It lists the countries with the highest crime rate and among the 132 countries analyzed, Canada is almost at the end of the list. Low crime rates put the country in eighth place among the safest to live.
All this security reasons offer to quality of life, also that’s why Canada is popular. And That’s not a coincidence that, according to US News’s Best Countries ** survey, the country leads, for the third consecutive years, the first placed quality of life, thanks to indicators such as public health, transportation, labor market, cordiality of the people, income of the population, security, stable politics, education, natural scenarios and policy to encourage diversity. Hey, do you want to know more about that or are you already packing?
Then you think, “Oh, but with that quality of life, it might be expensive to stay in Canada during my education,” and the answer is simple as it is. Let’s just compared to developed countries like England and the United States, Canada is where one lives best at a lower cost. Obviously these values depend on the provinces being the most populous, a little more expensive but still, items such as transportation, housing, food, insurance and even movie tickets are lower than the two countries that we just mentioned. Because of those reasons when you want to exchange the currency, you should consider exchange rate of the US dollar or pound with Canadian dollar, you are going to see that clearly your money worth much more in Canada.
When the subject is education, Canada has one of the most highly valued educational systems in the world. Even though it is not nationally joined, since it is their responsibility of each province, the standard is high throughout the Canadian territory. This year, data from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) pointed to Canada as the second country with the number of graduates in the world. They are 60% of the population have a high school diploma.
Another attraction of Canada, especially the province of Quebec, is the possibility to learn English and French in a single opportunity.
